Sabines Gull Startop's End reservoir

A quick stop at Startop's End Reservoir on the way to work this morning revealed bird number 248 for 2012 in the form of this Sabines Gull.

Pulling into the car park on the Bucks/Herts border and paying my £1.50 fee I take the few steps up to the reservoir bank and I'm on the bird in seconds as it flies along the sides of the water.
A small group of local birders has formed already to watch this little stunner.
The bird should be up in the high Arctic getting ready for a winter in the tropics instead it's been blown off course and finds itself here for us to enjoy.

Summer visitors are starting to arrive so the final two birds won't be far away I'm sure.
this weekend could well be the target weekend!....watch this space.
