I parked up at Egleton and paid the £5.65 entrance fee before walking straight out to Shoveler Hide arriving to find three people in the hide and the bird in view on the far bank. I was soon left alone in the hide and the bird flew across to the spit nearest the hide allowing a few (still distant) images to be grabbed before it decided to park up in the grass and sleep at which point I packed up and headed home too.
